If you’ve been around SEO for any length of time then it probably won’t come as too much of a surprise that it seems Google are not going to update the Google Toolbar PageRank anymore. John Mueller stated in the Google hangout below that they probably won’t ever update it again (around 20 mins in), so if you do follow (no pun intended) your website’s page rank then this is probably never going to change again.
As you may or may not know, building your own private high PR network is still a very effective method of ‘helping’ to rank your website in Google.
Traditional SEO hosting companies are not effective anymore and could potentially get your site penalised. The landscape has changed and in this post you’ll found out why and which type of hosting is now best.
As you’ve probably noticed this year the pagrank of your site/pages hasn’t changed at all. Only yesterday Google’s Matt Cutts tweeted that he’d be surprised if it was updated at all before 2014.
The thing is pagerank is still being used and adjusted, Google are just not showing it publicly. This has kind of always been the case really. What you see in the Google tool bar isn’t your ‘true’ page rank and has only ever been updated every 3 or 4 months Your real pagerank will be getting updated a lot more regularly than every 3 months or 4 months.
So what does that mean for you?
